I am new to this, so please pardon if I do not have specific "lingo" correct. So this evening I came across an unusual 2006 one-dollar bill. The standard letter stamp on the left is actually printed on top of the Dept of Tres. seal on the right. The left side of the bill therefore is blank. I attached a picture and would LOVE to know if this has any value. I recently started collecting/buying coins and got really excited when I came across this. Any help/information is much appreciated.

It is a fake. It is worth a $1.00. Do with it what you see fit - spend it, sell it, or keep it.

I agree with jim. The black Federal Bank seal should be aligned with the serial number and treasury seal like on a normal $1. If it was a genuine error, both seals and both serials would be shifted.

Thanks for the welcome. But it can be misaligned with the green. What is fake is that the black Fed. Res. Bank seal has to remain in alignment with the 4 black "2's". The green can be all aligned and the black can all be out of alignment even though they are both 3rd prints.

So much to learn! Thanks for the feedback! Just curious...but is the entire bill a fake? It has all of the other characteristics of a regular bill (feel, thickness, etc.). I guess I am wondering about the complete "blank field" on the left side of the bill

It is a genuine note but the error is fake. It is actually the result of a magician's trick.

Something looks off with that one to. Why is the FRBS so high above the 6? John1

John1,
It looks OK to me.
I will try to explain further. There are 2 parts of the 3rd print by the COPE machine. 1 is the 3 pieces of green ink - the 2 green ink serial numbers and the 1 green ink Federal Seal. 2 is the 5 pieces of black ink - the 1 black ink FRBS and the 4 black ink numbers that represent the FRB number.
To see this more clearly, take a good $1.00 note out and hold it up the the error one I indicated. You will see that the error note has all the green ink parts aligned correctly. Next you see that a 5 black ink parts are shifted downward and all in correct relationship to each other. That is a true error, not the original posted one.
Does that help?

Quote: Does that help? Yup. I took a note and looked at it and did a little measuring and the not in your link looks like an error while the OP's note does not. Thanks for going into detail for me (us). John1
