Included with some coins we recently acquired, we got these bills (Note the last one is not in order with the others):

4-Successive-1976-$2-Bills

I'm honestly not sure what they're worth, if even $10. I'm also not sure what to make of the stamp which reads: "Atlanta, GA Federal Annex" as well as the 13 cent stamp on each. Any insight is appreciated.

I'm assuming they were probably souvenirs for when the US turned 200. 13 cent stamps representing the original 13. Kinda cool, but probably not worth too much on the collector market

It does make sense that way doesn't it? I should have put the date together aha. It's no biggie if it isn't worth much, the curiosity was the main factor.

4/13/1976 was the First Day of Issue for the 1976 Series $2s and that is a USPS cancellation. Since I was not quite 1 year old then, I was not around to witness the practice but it was apparently a popular thing to do judging by the sheer number of cancelled $2s I have come across over the years. They do tend to sell for a little bit more than a generic Unc $2, especially if it has an interesting stamp or postal cancellation location, but are still only worth a few dollars each.

This are first day issued notes to commemorate the bicentennial, you were on the right track. Unfortunately there are a ton of these out there and typically sell for around $7 each. That being said, the four in a consecutive run should bring a little more on top if sold together.

All cool info. Neat to know that was the first day of printing for those bills.

There are some people who collect these and try to put a 50 states collection together. So ones from Hawaii, Alaska, Wyoming, etc trade for more money. But in general regular notes sell for $5 - $10, rare ones go for closer to $20.

I,m one of those who started a collection a couple months ago, after finding one in circulation. It could get pricey with 50 states and $10-$20 each. Bought one that was postmarked on July 4, 1976 in San Fran. I wonder what that employee was getting an hour on a Federal Holiday. Don't think it would happen today.

The notes were released on April 13 because that is Jefferson's birthday.
