If you could design any coin, what would be the design, and what domination? It could also be say - in the Roman Era.

Mine would be in the current Era, and it would be made in Half Dollars, or Quarters, and there would be the planets scattered. Maybe a couple of them!

Edit: I mean what would the size, or cost of the coin if it is meant for circulation, and if it isn't, is it gold? Platinum, silver?

Interesting concept. I'd really have to think about this one idea.

Well, if I had my choice of a new coin design. It would be a 25c silver coin, with Washington on the Obverse and the outline of the United States on the reverse. This coin would be minted in 2026 and released on July 4th.

Love this!

I would create a US $2 coin... The obverse would bring back the indian head and have the reverse with the moon in the background and the Hubble telescope and ISS in the foreground (with possible overlap on the moon... depending on space and aesthetics).

It could be called the:
(Forever) Frontiers or Past to Present coin

I would create a $15 coin made of silver. So its melt value would be equal to its face value, or less.. and we dont have $15 bills.

I would put Liberty on obverse looking to the left, sitting on a stone with a lion lying at her feet, and pointing left with an olive branch in her hand, and United States of America would be on the left, following the circular edge. On the rock it would say IN God we trust.

On the reverse would be an eagle, perched on the torch of the statue of liberty, and it would say Fifteen Dollars on the bottom of the reverse, following the circular edge of the coin. around the rest of the circular edge of the coin would be 13 stars

It would be thick, very thick, and then the mint could change the size depending on the price of silver. Which might be inconvienent...but it would be between the size of a nickel and quarter

Might be more realistic than people emagine. Not sure how it went over but at one time the post office by me had a notice that you could have your own picture on a stamp. And a real stamp that could be used on letters. Not sure if anyone tried that.
The way the US Mint is producing all sorts of just STUFF in coinage, I would think that is next. There are commemorative coins for almost everything. In the Red Book there are numerous pages devoted to just commemoratives. In the 2013 eidition, it's from page 282 to 342. That is an awful lot of none usable coinage. So why not a coin with your own picture or a relatives photo on it?
For example we could have the Just Carl Cent. The Just Carl 99 cent coin for all those items that end in 99 cents. Imagine the fun of paying for your auto's gas with EXACT money.

OK, I'll bite...

I'd want to design a 12 1/2 cent coin. I'm tired of all this two bits business; I want only one bit at a time. (We can get rid of dimes and quarters at the same time, but we'd have to bring back the Half Cent coin.)

The obverse would feature a portrait of Teddy Roosevelt, a great president and true lover of the natural world. (The most underrated president if you ask me.)

The reverse would feature a wild turkey in all it's plumed glory. (Franklin would have appreciated the thought.)

It would need to be at least 30mm in diameter and made of aluminum.

Mine, of course, is a little out there. It would be an obverse of Jefferson with this quote on the reverse...
"Those who hammer their guns into plowshares will plow for those who do not."
Any demonination and what not.

I would like to see great America inventions like on the cent a steam boat, nickel could have the Model T, quarter the Wright flyer, Half the lunar lander.
my other thought is a total change of the system . the smallest coin would be the dime done in copper. The 1/2 dollar in nickel and the size of our present nickel . use our small dollar size and composition for dollars and use clad for our new 5 dollar coin and a bimetal coin for our 10.

I thought of another one. It would be a 1 Dollar coin, and it would have pictures of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Lincoln, F.D.R., Theodore Roosevelt. (Sound familiar?) On the back would be an eagle, and have the normal words. The mint mark and date would also be on the front. The presidents would all be pictured in the way that they usually would.
Proofs would be made. There is also a possibility of other presidents on it, too.

I would like to see 1/2, 1/4, and 1/10 ounce .999 silver coins. The 1/10 being a resemblance of the Mercury dime. The 1/4 the Standing Liberty quarter and the 1/2 a return of the Oregon trail commemorative design. Too bad the mint is already making too many options and designs that the average collector cannot begin to collect them all.

Now that is a great idea. Those are some amazing coin types.

I thought of another one, it would be a half-dollar, and there would be the sun on the back. On the front, would be a spaceship. Mintmark all on fornt. Also one for dimes (1/10 Silver coin) and it would of 3 eagles, and then another 2 people holding hands on the back. Minkmark on back, date on front.

How about a Walmart Building on the front of one of our coins with Made In China on the reverse.

This would work for the states:
1) Stop producing the penny and $1, $2, $5 and $10 Bills
2) Make the nickel out of plated steel
3) For the Dollar coin, have constant Lincoln obverse
4) Start producing a $2 coin with a classical style Liberty design
5) Start producing a $5 coin with a classical style Liberty design
6) Make the former Eisenhower dollar the $10 coin!
