I shared earlier that I'm helping a friend pro-bono to catalog the inheritance from her father ... a huge pile of coins all mixed up ... USA and World.

Every now and then I have been checking in with the experts in the various forums to validate my opinions ...

Today's subject is an 1864 2 Cent piece, Large Moto.

I grade XF40 with a retail value of $25 and a dealer 'sell to' value of $15. In hand the coin is a lovely chocolate brown with no obvious problems.

Thoughts?

I would call you a tad low on the grade - looks an easy 45 to me.

Yes, David I agree with SsuperDdave, with 'WE' showing it should be at least EF-40, great looking coin.

I'd price it selling one at $42.00 like this, more than a few have RPD's that I collect, even minor, I'd buy this coin all day long at $15!

Also check to see if there is any sign of the ultra rare (tough to see in less than MS) FS-901 reverse clash with Indian Head cent. I spy a full serif on the D of united so maybe...

Thanks to everyone for your input.

No sign (that I can see) of a reverse die clash.

I will catalog this one for her at $25 expected price selling to a dealer.

Appreciate your help.
