Welcome to CCF Maritimer

Trout,
Very nice coin. I won't mention the grade because I cheated but I can see why you'd be scratching your head.
All those high points on the coin are probably the result of a soft strike, as opposed to wear which is why the coin was assigned the grade it got.
Your first 2 photos reveal nice lustre and stunning surfaces on both sides.I wouldn't be too unhappy with that coin, especially as there seems to be no significant detracting marks from what I can see in your photos.
Check the MS64 example on Blue Sheet to see how soft the strike was on that one (it is a 1937 too!)

I had a look at that one.
The thing that has me baffled is the centre diamond is still reasonably sharp but the orbs are shockers.
they didn't make many of these so it is hard to understand how they could have fluffed it up by creating so many "Soft strike" coins.
I only paid a couple of hundred for this and it IS better than the one I have at the moment.
The soft strike is still a bit of a disappointment though

Looks like a soft strike to me as well. There is lots of lustre present. Its a bit hard to grade from the photos but I wouldnt be surprised if its MS

I can't see any actual wear on the coin though your photos don't show the hairlines well. Lustre appears to be unbroken so I wouldn't be surprised if it was MS either. Detail isn't a very good indication of wear, you'll find original lustre to be far more reliable.

The only way I could get a decent pic was to free this coin.
It was never intended to stay in the slab anyway
The lustre is almost intact and the coin "Cartwheels" nicely, Lots of fine detail in the hair and has a great ear.
The obverse is a good strike but the reverse is quite soft.
Here are some high resolution scans and pic's.

Looks a lot like a coin we were all discussing not that long ago & I was trying to make the point that that coin was weakly struck.
Everyone else was saying how can it be aUNC/UNC with no orb etc etc,it seems to be more common with 38's than the 37's.
