I recently purchased a silver China commem in a bizzare box and have been unable to find exactly what it is. The obverse is the same model as KM-815 10Y Return of Hong Kong to China, but it has no denomination like the one in the Catalog. The reverse is similar, but almost mirrored. The weird thing about the coin is the box though. There are 2 really bad misspellings, "com memoration" and "sregr ession". Also, it weighs .935ozt, and is non-magnetic. Does anyone know anything about this coin? Any information would be greatly appreciated!

-Andrew

Looks more like a medal than a coin.

I would think this is another medal copy from within mainland, it probably has little or no silver content.

As a Chinese living in Hong Kong, I don't understand what is the meaning of "sregr ession".

If this is a coin to commemorate the return of Hong Kong to mainland China, I can't see any reason what the name of Hong Kong not present on the coin.

The printed insert shown might be fake also because the year of 1995 has no relationship to "return of Hong Kong".

My conclusion: a crude copy of medal from a cottage industry.

The name Hong Kong does not have to appear on the medal since the skyline picture is unmistakable. It is like the Eifel Tower or the former world trade center towers - an iconic representation.

The wording is a poor rendition of English.

"Commemoration of Hong Kong's Regression" would be more correct. No apostrophe and the S attached to regression.

It looks like a knock-off medal to me and I would be very suspicious of the metal content.
