Well I guess it had to happen sooner or later, guess I will have to get a 20 dollar account, they were good for 2 to 4 boxes a week, also several ike's. I asked for some pennies and gal asked me to swipe my debit card, I said my dad has an account I don't. "Coin is for customers only" wish the Gov would have said that when they had there hand out for their bail out money.

BAC didn't need to take bailout funds, bailout funds were forced on them by overreaching government legislation. Don't go there.

Get an account at a larger, local CU or regional bank, they'll treat ya a hundred times better.

Bank of America is a terrible bank. Especially for coin collectors. Find a local Credit Union or regional bank as mentioned above.

You didn't have an account and BOA cuts you off. The nerve!

Open an account or have your father go and ask for your coins. When it comes to obtaining coins, my irksomeness towards a bank is directly related to the type of account I have with them. No Account - Eternally grateful that they allowed me to obtain even a couple of rolls of coins, much less boxes. If denied - no harm, no foul and no ill will towards the bank. Time either to move on or open a personal account. Personal Account - Irked at the inconvenience posed. Yet still grateful the bank allowed me to obtain boxes of coins with a personal account. Time either to start looking for a new bank or open a small business/commercial account. Small Business/Commercial Account - Infinitely irked! How dare they! Time to close my account immediately and tell everyone I know about their rotten service!

You evidently have an unusually loose goose BOA there. I'm amazed they ever even gave you the time of day without first verifying your accountholder status. The BOAs in my area don't even allow you to inhale a breath inside their sacred premises without first being verified as an accountholder. The very air itself is for customers only. Others are encouraged to suffocate but are requested to please go back outside before collapsing.

I am a B of A customer and I usually get some decent boxes there. They are in business to make money so I don't have a problem with a bank saying no.

I have never had a problem ordering halves or $2 bills from BofA. When I walk in to pick up 2-4 boxes of pennies I have never received any grief either. Since they have been so accommodating, I believe I will just have my local branch order 8 boxes of pennies a week, so I don't have to stop at other banks.

I have an account, but I have never used funds from my account, or had to swipe my card. I just call, and pay cash, maybe my branch is super nice, it's the same few people in there every time.

Haven't used BoA for anything since the early 70's. They have a fee and attitude for every response.

Actually was thinking about it this morning and I think I am on his signature card for an account at the bank, I don't have a debit card for any of his accounts, and other to write the occasional check when he is on vacation probably only one of his banks knows me by sight and that isn't BofA. So I will check this week and see what happens. I have accounts at 4 banks but only 3 that are practical to pick up coin from as Navy Fed is 30 miles away.

We have a Provident Bank here in our local town that not only will supply rolls, it also allows us to use their community meeting room for our local club free of charge. They also have an account linking program that provides our club with almost $200 a year in interest. Since we hold our club meetings there the tellers are eagle eyed when it comes to catching collectible coins and currency as they come in.

BOA has given up the silver from time to time, walk-in and orders. My favorite was a 12-box dime order about 3 years ago that gave up 28 silvers including 6 Barbers, mercs and multiple rosies. I have an account there. I stopped ordering with them because they constantly "forgot to place my order". Bunch of teeny boppers working there anywho.

I have little empathy for those who expect a commercial bank to spend their money feeding our collecting interest for free.
Get an account ... develop relationships with the managers (whatever bank you choose) ...
IMHO you should consider yourself fortunate that you were able to acquire 2-4 boxes per week.

nickelsearcher If you read my last post I am pretty sure I am on my dads signature card, I will check this week, I already have 4 banks, 3 local. I guess I can see your point though, I stopped giving free estimates years ago because they just didn't produce enough return for the time involved, so really there is no advantage to providing us with coin, account or not.
