This seems to be a topic with several forums I haunt. Last week I watched (and notified ebay) a '100mil gold bar' sell for $1500+. More and more fakes all the time.

What about if I start a bidding war on this, place a bid of 50,000.00, then somebody else bid it up above that? Then we know who the winner will be, It will be me, or you.
Would I (we) get in trouble for this?
Anybody want to do it with me? It will block the sale.
I'm not paying, but risking negative feedback. Could there be legal action? Would like to block and stop this from happening.

i have an ebay account strictly for coins and one for other stuff (video games, watches ect) I have 2 addresses, moms and dads so it's not illegal, I don't use the second one anymore, I'm almost tempted to bid up and win, and not pay, and take a chance of it getting taken down, opinions?

Someone could buy one of his $4 items and leave a "beware of the fake coin" negative feedback post. Even though it's not for the actual item, most people check out the feedback.

"so a full refund of the selling price (shipping costs not included) within 7 days is available if I have described the item grossly incorrect. "
Yuck....

i'll be watching it the next 3 days and if it's not taken down an hour prior to ending, I might as well, i'd rather take a negative feedback than have some uneducated coin collector buy it. I've seen cases where grandmas buy grandson coins and they turn out to be fake or copies but they're for gifts and it's outside the 180 day paypal protection agreement

You can always buy it... And refuse to pay for it because it's fake.. Then tell ebay that's why you aren't paying.. A seller can't leave you negative feedback.

my thoughts exactly, buy it, or win it, and then don't pay because it's fake. also, in doing it this way , why not have some fun and have it bidding up tens of thousands of dollars. It would be fun to do.

I sent the seller this message: Per your listing: "I describe things as accurately as I can."
To allow you to revise your listing to describe as accurately as you can, what you have listed is a Sudbury Trade dollar - NOT a RARE 1967 gold proof coin. The way you have listed it is misleading to potential buyers.

The sad thing is that he will keep listing it until it sells to a legitimate buyer.
