So I picked this up for $1. I don't know why, I know nothing about nickels but it appears to be in really good shape. was it worth the $1 and what would you grade it at?

Meagan, to the CCF. The nickel appears to be in MS condition. I would say you did well buying it for $1.00. Worth MUCH more than that.

You did very well on that one. It is the most expensive Jefferson in MS condition which this one appears to be.

I think it's around MS 63-64 and worth around $40-60. Nice find.

Nicer buy. Do they have any more?

Is it the reverse of 1939 or 1940? I can't tell from the picture.

'meagan' take a 1938 and a 1940 nickel and look at the steps, you will see a difference at the ends of the steps, that will tell you if you have type 1 or 2.

I think that is a type 2 but we need a closer pic too be sure.

What a great find for only $1. I finally ended up buying one for my collection and paid about $40. Would gladly pay $1 each for as many as I could get. It also appears to be in excellent condition. Thanks for sharing.
