Artdio, was his listing still active? If so then you stole $11 grading fee from him and may have cost him in the final value. Show your own graded coin if you need a comparison and think graded coins sell for more. Or as someone else said, get it TPG'd. |

On the other hand I might just have helped him by showing his coin on my sight aswell..If someone looks at my listing and decides he wanted an ICCS graded coin then I just helped the seller ..so what Fact is I REMOVED the pic when asked to do so... Again I could care less if someone compares my coin to another ...

To use someone else's picture in your ebay listing is wrong, unless you have their permission. If the other seller's auction was still active, you may have cost them $. A common misunderstanding but wrong nonetheless. Whether you care if someone uses your picture or not is beside the point. They may care if you use theirs. Not trying to be judgmental, just my perspective. |

As I said Zonad , all I did was a side by side for people to see , and it was removed right away when asked..I done it and I fixed it .. so its over...To much focus on the issue instead of the grading...

I am the owner and seller of the 1875H ICCS VF30 dime shown in this thread. Thank you to the majority of posters in this thread who got it right. It is most certainly NOT okay to use someone else's images (without permission) for your own use, watermarked or not. To artdio: I stumbled across your listing and was surprised and slightly angry that you were using my image without permission. I reported it to ebay first, then later decided to message you about it. I am not "threatened" by you coin. My coin stands by its own merit and I do not need to resort to gimmicks/rule breaking in attempts to sell it. Also, I do not appreciate being slandered and called names. From your current listing- "I HAD ADDED A PIC OF BOTH COINS SIDE BY SIDE TO SHOW THE DIFFERENCE ...The owner of the ICCS coin asked me to remove the side by side which I did... I have kept the pic on file so if you would like to see it just ask......" So you are still trying to use MY image of MY coin to try to sell your coin. I don't care how you try to spin it, that is wrong. I asked you politely to remove this from your ad as well and you responded very disrespectfully. If you are so confident in your coin's grade and originality, why not just send your coin into ICCS or TPG? You'll have a much better chance to sell a coin of that potential value if it's holdered. Plus you wouldn't need to resort to stealing images of a certified coin to convince a buyer that yours is better. Re: the grade of my ICCS coin- it is accurate. My pictures are rather poor. Poker....as I said I did not think O was breaking any rules.. as for the revised listing , NO I am not using your pic and to keep it on file as comparison pic is totally allowed...I am not using nor will I use it.. As for being rude I have a copy of all the messages and I was not rude to you in any way..and if your referring to my statement of Get Over it .. then what ever..It was not meant as rude....I did what you asked but you went further to have my coin remove.... spoke with ebay Security about it and they said my listing was OK ..I asked if any part was against policy they said no..... had I have known it would cause this much nonsense over a pic I would have asked .so sorry again .. As for sending to ICCS why give them money for what I already know ..Mine is a solid VF 30 ...... Mat I will revise my listing once again and maybe the drama will stop... |

I'm afraid I agree - I would not be pleased if someone used an image of a coin I was trying to sell to bolster their own sales. Copyright exists and it is wrong to use someone elses image without their permission - whatever the reason.

As a seller on ebay I have to agree with the majority as it being wrong to take someone else picture without permission. I've had this happen to me a few times, where I see a picture of my coin on someone else auction. I too ask them to please use their own pictures or at the very least send me a quick message asking me if it's okay to use my picture. The one that really got me once, was a seller had a coin listed with my picture and stated right in the auction description "the coin pictured is the exact coin you will receive" Made me wonder how he/she was going to pull that one off when I had the coin in the picture in hand. |

GUYS Enough already about the pic issue !!! What this post was all about is the grading of both coins.....Apparently everyone just wants to chime in and scold.. The issue is over and was over yesterday..So can we just move along with the grading opinions please.....

Oh I may be getting in over my head here by saying this but....I think copyright infringement in this case is a joke. Just saying my thoughts. If you wanna be petty about the whole situation, the coin belongs to the Government of Canada and the RCM. It is their property which is why it is illegal to melt. Did you ask them if you can post a picture of their property? Just a quick little e-mail away right? Doubt it. Its a little picture for pete sakes. I think nothing wrong in this case on showing a comparison as confirmation of what the seller had available. And I also agree that it goes both ways....The OP may have just offered free advertising as well IF someone HAPPENED to notice that the comparison picture was of another coin also available by another seller, and preferred a professionally graded coin. There said it....now bring on the onslaught!  @ ARTDIO.....I gave you my grade, just sharing thoughts about the not as relevent section of the thread. Hope you dont mind.
