Brian, what grade is your 1943S Mercury dime? great picture - I need to improve my coin photo skills. I believe mine is an AU-58 - some slight wear on the obverse - almost UNC. almost. -Steve

The dealer called it MS64. I'm not the best when you get into MS grades. That particular photo is from the dealer, I didn't take it. Your photo looks good to me.

great job, just like Metalman. I start with Mercury dimes.but I started my set with the .low grade stuff and sometime I will start to upgrade them. I finish my set in about 6 months most are in G-vg. so it looks like you are one the right step and a great set to start with.

I just picked up 5 nice ones today from a local coin shop. Maybe I will start a collection of them also.

Great looking coin. You may want to consider buying the keys soon. I have learned, the longer you wait, the more they go up in price.

Mercury dimes were also the first collection I started. It has progressed nicely. The higher the grades you try to get the longer it will take if you are on a coin budget. It is still my favorite but is getting harder to get some of the ones I need. There is always the stopper, the 1916-D, I will own one in the far future perhaps. Looks like you are off to a good start.

Great looking coin!!! My poor pitiful collection of Mercurys is near complete - still missing the 1916D, 1921, and 1921D - someday; however, mine are all over the place in grade - G4 thru EF. I think the coins the mint began producing in 1916 (Mercury Dimes, Standing Liberty quarters, Walking Liberty halves) are some of the most beautiful coins ever produced in this country. Ralph

I've decided my Mercury set will be from 1934 to 1945 - it keeps it affordable, maybe. this coin will be part of a type set of the 3 coins released in 1916. she is a beauty. i picked up 6 more Mercury dimes on Saturday in EF40 - 1934, 1935, 2x 1936, and 2x 1937. $23.00 worth of coins for $7.00 - that's slightly more than the silver content! -Steve -Steve

Very pretty dime. I'm posting this to help get me to the 50 level. I've got several coins to trade that would compliment yours nicely.

90% of my Mercury dime set was given to me by my grandmother and are all lower grades since she just found them in the money she helped collect from a laundry mat back in the 60's. Still missing the top three, though. Mercury dimes are a very nice coin and will be a good challenge to get all in MS condition. Well, near impossible for the 16 d... Good things, Ty
