Hi I just joined this forum and a few others. I'm from the Midwest and am an AVIIIIID coin collector as most of you probally are haha. My favrite coins to collect are silver ones. My WHOLE coin collection was stolen in Kansas City Missouri on January 7th 2013 Ok on to the important part. About 2 weeks ago I was going to a coin show in the next state and drove there to show off my collection. Had 90% of my silver collection and my only 2 gold coins along with a slew of random coin from everywhere with me to show off. I have been collecting since I was about 7 years old and I'm 28 now. My first coin was a Wheat penny haha. I freaked out when I found it in my change and then I was hooked. Well I had a lot of fun at the show talking and trading with a lot of different coin collectors. I have never seen so many people interested in the same thing as me in my whole life lol. Well after the show I decided to get a hotel room and sleep before I drove the 200 miles back home. Luckily for me or you could unluckily for me there was a nice looking hotel right across the street from the convention center so I drove across the street and walked inside to get a room. I was filling the paper work out when I heard a car screaching around the corner and onto the highway I dident think nothing of it. I finished my paperwork and paid with my credit card and got my room key walked out the door to my car................... All four of my cars window had been completley smashed and my suitcase were GONE. (Im about to cry thinking about it) Someone had seen me at the convention and seen me drive across the street and walk inside so they decided to steal my collection I had worked my whole life for. This happened in Kansas City Missouri. The most identifiable coin would be the 1999 American Golden Eagle given to me by late grandfather (Im so sorry gpa I love you and miss you) 1912-S 1C Lincoln Head Wheat cent BU not pic of actual coin btw 1881 Morgan silver dollar (not actual coin in pic) Lots of the 1943 steel wheat pennies 3 rolls of Franklin and Kennedy Silver Half Dollars about 60 Mercury dimesbout 100 Buffalo nickelsvarious Euros Lots and lots of silver quarters and dimes probally 50 dollars face value between the both of them 3 crown royal pouches of wheat pennies Im sorry I want to name em all because I miss em so much this hurts so bad lots of those were givin to me by my older relatives who have since passed away. I really would give a foot to get them back and that is absolutley positivly a fact thats how much they mean to me. Please if anyone tries to sell you coins matching this description kindly take their name and number down and pass it to me or the police. I will NOT press charges against the person. I understand how it is to need money and to be desperate so I will absolutly not press charges I promise. I will give whoever helps me find this a reward of cash or some awesome rare coins if I get my collection back. Id love to hook somebody up with a few awesome coins lol. Crossing my fingers that someone can help me Thanks for reading and look forward to meeting everybody here :D Thanks for reading my long post hope you all have a happy new year and take care of yourself and thanks for the warm welcome :D

I am truly sorry to hear about your loss. This is not the first instance we have read about on the forum where someone has been followed from a coin show, coin shop or even a bank and left their vehicle only to have it broken into. Unfortunately everything you have listed is very common and not traceable unless anything was in a TPG holder with a serial number on it. I wager the thief may even be smart enough to remove a coin from a holder that would be traceable. You may want to call nearby pawn shops and watch things like Craigslist. Once again I'm sorry for your loss.

Thank You for the warm welcome guys/girls this seems like a pretty nice place. The only thing I can do is start over which I've already begun LOL. I found a silver quarter in my change at QuikTrip haha. I do still have some of my stuff like a lot of wheat pennies and a few silver coins oh forgot they got all my paper money too/sigh dang it hurts thinking about it so bad so so bad. That was my life there ya kno I'm so discouraged. The theif probally does not have a clue what he did to the person whos windows he smashed for absolutely no reason. Kids are getting worse and worse these days. Alhough it is possible so I have hope still

Pawn shops are probably your best bet. I am really sorry to hear this happened to you and hope that maybe you are able to locate some items. I hope you filed a police report. At least if the thieves are found with the items on your list, they can be returned to you.

Watch it!! It's a few giving the majority a bad name!! It's a few getting worse and worse... Not all kids... Not even a large number... I hate that type of stereotype!

tiberius123, I lost a silver dollar collection given to me by my grandmother years ago, so I know how you feel.
BTW - YOU aren't the one who files charges in a criminal case like this, so you have no choice in that matter. I hope you were able to provide as many details in your police report, as they will be sent to coin dealers, pawn shops, etc., over a wide area, and with luck if the perp tries to sell the coins, they will be recognized and the perp arrested. So you stand a fair chance of recovering some or all of the coins, unless s/he dumps them into a Coinstar machine and pockets the results.

Sorry for your loss. It is a collectors worst nightmare and unfortunately happens far too often. Thieves often target dealers coming to and leaving coin shows. Good luck hope you recover them, checking Craigslist and notifying coin shops and pawn shops in the Kansas City, Missouri area would be a good 1st step. There is a numismatic crime section of this forum that might get more page views if you placed your list there as well. http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/...FORUM_ID=149

tiberus123, what a very unfortunate thing to have happened. You seem to be a kind person only wishing to have your coins returned.
I would be wishing a whole lot worse to the individual(s) responsible.
I wish you the very best in retrieving your collection.

I had my collection stolen once--it was terrible to lose coins with sentimental value. Sorry you went through that--but welcome to CCF!

Oh dear :( I'm so sorry to hear about the trauma it would have caused, I'm just new to collecting coins and know how addicting it is becoming however I hope that one day soon your thief is caught and your entire collection returns to its rightful owner, you, just remember hun, "karma always comes back to bite people on the backside" all the very best if luck with it all..
