Selling ASYN has a 1913-2013 Artic $1 coin from the $229 proof set for sale already. Does not look like a presale, are they available at authorized sellers already? ALSO has anyone ever bought NCLT from ASYN before? all the NCLT they sell all seem to have scratches all over them. Are they really that careless when removing them from sets or is it just the way they are photographing them? http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAP...B:SS:CA:1123

The scratches are from whatever scanner he uses, the coins aren't that scratched up. What I always want to know about asyn's NCLT coins is what does he do with all the capsules? He sells all his coins raw, even those I know come only in capsules. Why not keep them in their original capsules?

Again, asyn shows extremely poor business sense.
The scanner issue discounts perfectly good coins. Others show spectacular photos and command premiums. For the exact same coins.
I've picked up several bargains because of a badly located scanner scratch.

Had a look at the lot...
If all the impairments that appear to be on the coin in his image are really just on the scanner used, he really really needs to get a new scanner. Based on the images, I would never buy such an apparently badly impaired proof coin.

Quote: I would never buy such an apparently badly impaired proof coin. Maybe they use such a poor image intentionally. There is no way that a buyer could complain about the quality of their purchase since the listing "clearly" shows a hideous coin. Anything they send you would have to be in better shape than the picture. Has anyone else ordered/received the 2013 fine silver set yet?

I have purchased some of the hideously pictured proof coins from asyn before and they are fine in hand. It does help to keep the price down from a buyer's perspective.

@ Ryan, it did cross my mind as to how he has received his supply so fast, as Angus coin & many others are on "pre-sale".

I don't know but my local dealer has the pure gold set, proof and BU dollars and the Uncirculated set already, I know already he is a friend of a guy who has very close ties with the RCM.

I would think, based on the number of 2012 sets they have sold/are continuing to sell, that they put through one of the larger dealer pre-orders the RCM gets and it gets the corresponding appropriate attention. Plus, shipping from Ottawa to Toronto is same day or overnight at worst. I've bought a lot of NCLT from them. Most are fine. The odd one does actually look as bad as the picture. I'm not overly worried about boxes myself but the capsules would be nice to get; particularly for the odd shaped coins or extra thick ones that don't fit in the standard capsules I have lying around. I presume he just gets rid of all that stuff to minimize shipping charges.

This asyn has to be the most amazing seller on ebay. Don't understand how he makes money...he sells so much stuff at 1 buck...you include the labour involved...don't think it is a one man operation and the fact he has to buy the coins...shipping and the odd loss that comes with selling....just don't see how he is making a good profit.

I bought an 89 Maple from him that looked DREADFUL in the picture. Lo and behold, I opened it last night, and it is as if I bought a brilliant 2011/2012 maple! I have had almost no problems with scratched/"problem" coins with ASYN. I have had insane shipping times, but that is another issue...
