I found this Ole Gal mounted into a key chain and couldn't leave her in this humiliating role. Unfortunately, it looks like a plating that won't come off. Just for giggles I tried acetone with no success. I tried Verdicare with no success. Maybe I can use electrolysis to remove the plating. Any ideas without further destruction?

Looks like it was once plated. Most likely came out of a money clip or bolo tie.

IndianGoldEagle,
Like I stated in my post, I pulled it from a key-chain. I guess I should have taken a picture of it in the key-chain too. It was one of those spinning designs. Even though it was set into a bezzle, there are small round holes dug into two spots on the reeded edge.

This will always be a disfigured coin. The only thing you'll ever be able to remove is the evidence of how it came to be that way. Don't mess with it - in the words of Francis Bacon: Quote: There is no excellent beauty that hath not some strangeness in the proportion.

Why would someone plate silver--with what, nickel? It wears/tarnishes so nicely already.

It's kinda like a circulation cameo which got Inverted in postproduction.

Are you sure it wasn't a Cameo Proof? :)

Have you considered making it a pocket piece? The plating should eventually wear off . . . mostly.
