I was having the occasional problem where the staples on the flip did not lay flat and if you put the flips in page slots or stacked them in rows, the rear of the staple could cause you some problems. Also, the staple from the rear could scratch a coin by ripping through the clear plastic cover. I have found when you use a small hammer, you can tap these down flat. The flips lay flatter and they slide in and out of the clear page holders a little easier. Just a thought that ended up working for me.

Or you could get one of these and some of these. Trust someone that used one to fire in about 150,000 staples in the last 6 months.

No, your idea was creative and would work. just wanted to save you time and potential damage to your coins if you ever slipped and mis hit the 2x2

Since I got into coin collecting, I'm forever hijacking my wife's stapler. It staples flat and the 2x2's go into the binder sheets nicely. She got it at "Staples", go figure.
Thanks for posting the tip, mds308. By sharing, we can all learn.

here is another tip I picked up last weekend (thanks Bobby) : even a flat clinch staple adds a small amount of thickness to a 2x2, if you stagger the staple positions so they don't line-up, as in alternate between close to the coin and farther from the coin, you can get more in a box.

Number 10's do NOT hold up. After you use them for a while they will jam every single time you get to where the 2 strips meet. You will have to continue to use them loading only one strip at a time which is a pain in the butt. I had 2 of them and they both did it.

guess I never really noticed that, since I just reloaded staples when I ran out. I will keep that in mind if I ever staple hundreds/thousands of flips

Are these staplers OK if you only need to staple flips every once and a while? I would do the same thing as Fuzzy; just refill the stapler when it's empty. One strip at a time.

SsuperDdave,
Not sure if it was me, Bobby or both of us that made you laugh. As a moderator, you need to remove comments that make fun of other members. The way I see it, if I mock myself, you won't have to edit the post. And it saves you guys the time from doing it.
