Here is an article on the U.S. Mint's plans, now that the 2013 Silver Eagles are sold out before the end of January. How much more above spot would you be willing to pay, if these got scarce ? Or is silver ......... silver , whether it is an ASE or a round Edited by denco7 01/19/2013 10:06 am

I just snagged an NGC MS 69 2013 for $46 on ebay after seeing that the mint was still selling 2012's for $50.95.

I would think 40 is high. You can get them on ebay for 38 with free shipping and even thats a bit high for the current spot

I paid $37 Thursday and that was high. No need to charge that much.

Both of my LCSs will be spot +$3 when they have them. My one LCS thought they would be getting their shipment on Friday but the shipment got delayed into next week.

Thirty eight you may notice is bout bottom line on ebay, shipped.... Why? That's about six bucks over spot. If you are selling silver under 38 per oz. IMO, you are gonna lose much money in the long run. Sellers and most buyer all alike realize this and that is why you will often see the Mendoza line so to speak, or high bid just over 6 bucks from spot... Set your search for 99 cents up to 36 bucks and then click buy it now, then click free shipping, and let me know how many good deals of pure .999 silver you find in any form on ebay.... Ofcourse if you wont great deals close to mint, go direct to mint....

I set my search range for 26 to 36 bucks, buy it now with free shipping and could not find one ounce of .9999 silver. Closest I saw was a game token, or these are my fav, the German buffalo bars lol. Are these even real silver? http://www.ebay.com/itm/ONE-TROY-OU...em41701a1726

IMO, you are gonna lose much money in the long run Remember with ebay theres fees and free shipping on some of those too. For the large sellers making a buck or two off of a bullion round is fine, not so much for a mom and pop shop. It really depends on what type of company the seller is since theres two ways a business can make money. Either they have to increase their profit per sale or they can just sell massive amounts like provident or APMEX or modern coin mart. I cant remember what the mints fee is for those either but I'm guessing they make a dollar or two off of each coin as well depending on the size of the order.

The $40 per I saw was at a coin show too so pure profit. Looked like he sold some as well. I guess the sold out feature works to draw some in. I don't usually buy them so I'm not sure on markup

Good call 21, but the ones that can sell at a dollar or two and still turn a profit are far and few between, like APMEX on ebay for example and a few others of the bigger names..... Oh and I have been forking out about 450 a month in ebay fees for months now, so trust me I know how hard it is to turn little profit.... You fork out what could be 15 oz. of silver every month in overhead and your shut down real fast minus a fuel injection from other sources....

I don't usually buy them so I'm not sure on markup Hi, Angel, long time no chat. My wife used to do various shows to sell things and I can confirm that just because someone is selling something at a show, there are numerous costs that they have to pay to do that. It can cost $1000 or more just for a table at some of these shows. They are not like flea markets or bazaars, where tables are either free or a few dollars. They pay for the cost of the products they sell and then they have to buy gas to get themselves and their stuff to the show. All of these things add up, making it difficult to do the shows AND make money. Many times she was right at break even, so didn't really make anything. We'd all like the best price we can find, of course. Sometimes this happens at a show and sometimes it does not. Either way, attending these shows is a great way to spend an afternoon. My son and I patrol the gun shows 3-4 times per year and often see silver for sale there. Once in a while, it's even a pretty good deal or comes into a gun sale or trade as a "sweetener". Good dad-son times.
