Hi, from reading this forum it seems like there is a strong preference from people in Canada for the ICCS graded coins, here in the US I've had all my better Canadian graded from PCGS and am very happy with the grading. I also have a handful of NCG graded that I've bought online and have been generally satisfied, but then bought one that was extremely overgraded so I have not bought anymore. I've never owned any from ICCS but it seems like they bring in pretty good prices on ebay. Just wondering what peoples thoughts were on the pros and cons of each.

Which TPG?

It really depends where you're planning on selling them.

Selling to a Canadian, then absolutely the Canadian coin should be ICCS graded.

Selling to an American, then absolutely PCGS or to a lesser extent, NGC.

since you are from the US, I would use pcgs, you would have the exact opposite problems of shipping and insurance problems with ICCS. also border issues too

I find PCGS grading fairly comparable to ICCS/CCCS. I've only had a few NGC coins go through my hands so this may be a gross over-generalization but they tend to grade higher. Looks like NGC uses the full scale up to 70 where the others stop around 67/68. I just listed an NGC coin that was graded F15 that I would personally grade it as VG10.

Canadian TPG's grade on "technical" parameters only and don't take into account eye appeal or luster. Canadian and US TPG's also difffer on the "red" designation. CCCS is more conservative than ICCS, but will certify many many more varieties than does ICCS. My personal opinion is that there has been 1-2 points of grading creep in ICCS coins in the last 3-4 years.
