Here is another 1859 from my recent purchase. I also have about 15 other 1859s that I cant see anything going on with the date. But given the success of finding all of those other date varieties, I was wondering if there should be some other scarce pieces that I should be looking for.

Hi Tfred, That's another nice one Haxby PC59-471. http://www.vickycents.com/obv-o47.html
Nice repunched O in ONE. Not rare however.

To answer your other question...
Reverse N is a nice find especially if in VF condition. Any reverse M would be very rare in my opinion. With 231 currently documented die pairings there is plenty to hunt for. enjoy.

No I meant "N group reverse" there are 12 reverse groups determined by progressive broken and repaired parts of the punch used to make the dies, they are lettered from E-P. Group N and M seem to involve just one die, which makes them super hard to find. I just got a group N reverse coin in the mail today and it made my day. Still hunting for the elusive group M.

oh yes, I know what you mean. I've been looking at the Haxby numbers a lot lately and it just clicked what you meant. Reverse group N. I've got about a dozen other 59s to go. I'll let you know if I find any Ns or Ms.

http://www.vickycents.com/rev-m1.html The "M Group" reverse is the only one with a known recut stem at leaf 10. At this point only two coins have been id'd with this marker (as far as I know).
