I am really fond of this one in my 7099. It is one of the more difficult 39's to find and mine is in great shape. It has very interesting wear on the reverse, maybe due to the strike quality? The obverse has great details in contrast. One rim ding at the 8:30 position. The Liberty has complete separation but shows some wear on the L and the I. I haven't been doing well with my guesses on grades of late. I think this is VF though.

I was fixin' to bid on one of these types last week, but it went out of my range for what I wanted to pay for it. Unusual strike indeed.

I like these transition pieces.

Looks like your avatar as well! Same style anyway.

Wow - very nice coin. I would grade the obverse as a solid VF30, maybe 35. I love the wear/strike issue on the reverse. I'm not sure about a grade there but it is interesting. Thanks for posting.

I concur with VF a really neat looking original coin. Fantastic representation of a weak strike on the reverse, could easily be struck through a layer of grease on the dies causing the weakness in the letters while letting the detail in the lettering and wreath come through fine. I don't think that it's from any percievable wear differences from obverse to reverse.
