It's the rare dotted i LiBERTY Buffalo nickel! You can tell it's genuine because the reverse is a different color than the obverse!

(Well...of course I'm being silly, but it would probably work on ebay....!!)

Actually, having the reverse a different color just means it spent time in an old coin folder. I have several Buffalo nickels like that.
Rest in Peace

I thought this was going to be an idiot who needed to be slapped and taught how to write titles until I saw who the poster was, then knew it was going to be a good laugh.

Thanks CaptainFwhiffo! That never occurred to me (seriously - it didn't) until you mentioned it. I'm listing this on ebay later tonight (NOT as a rare dotted I piece, either) and that'll be a potential explanation for me to offer!

This coin is very likely to sell for hundreds of cents so don't miss this one time opportunity. The lucky high bidder of this nickel will be in possession of the only known example of the 1927-S Dotted I variety.

The Dotted I Nickels were originally called the Two-F variety, for the Fivf Cents on the reverse.

Is the auction still on? A friend and I have a joke about words in all caps that have a SiNGLE in the middle . . . I'd love to send her this.

nina: Yes, I'm auctioning it on ebay but I'm not using all caps or the @@ symbols in the listing title. The way I titled this post was just sort of a rip at the ridiculous way and the ridiculous things people sell on ebay. Also...if you look at the word "LIBERTY" on the nickel it looks like a lower case eye as in "LiBERTY" - thus the basis of this intentionally goofy post.
