Twoonies and only twoonies.
Oh yes, I have other stuff, but they are all, if necessary, trade baits for twoonies.

I just love numismatics generally. My mission statement is to collect across the whole range of coins that have been issued since the invention of coinage, in all cultures.
I have been doing that for nearly 40 years.

What do I collect? As far as Canadian coins go I have a full date set of 50 cent coins from 1937- 2012 ( just waiting for the 2013 coin to become available). i also have an incomplete 1 cent collection along with dollar coins and a few other denominations. I have a few large cents and I recon these are great coins. Why do I collect them ? I like the designs and they are available to get in good condition (unlike our Aussie pre decimal coins )

well..... as a kid I sold off a whole ice cream bucket full of canadian coins that I inherited from my grandpa, to buy cigarettes and beer... (i was 16, and she was worth it!) as an adult I filled a jar with the coins I found while demolishing buildings for the last 20 years. last xmas I was sorting through the jar and found a strange looking twoonie that I got in change one day from the local 7:11 after some help from SPP the twoonie was determined to be a mint back door job. I sold the twoonie to T_Y for a good chunck of $$$ (thanks T_Y, I still owe you a beer) and replaced all the stuff I had sold off as a kid. I also started on a world type set, mostly because its a lot cheaper than canadian stuff, although I have been building that department as well. world set is up to 218 countries and about 2500 coins, the canadian stuff I havent catalog yet but I keep one of everything and the binder is building including some nice varieties. i stick around half for the coins and half for the community here. /cheers

Pennies mostly, but nickels as well. I love the huge number of varieties and errors to be found, and there seems to be more coming out of the woodwork every day. Sad to see the penny go. It's been around since well before I was born (over 50 years ago! Gad, how time flies...) and I'll miss it. I also collect the colonial tokens that circulated through Canada in the early 1800's because, like Dave H, I love the history behind them.

Quarters. When I was trying to decide what to collect, I wanted to pick one denomination that I had a reasonable prospect of obtaining one of every date/major variety. The 36 dots eliminated the Penny and Dime, the 21s eliminated the Nickel and Half. In hindsight, I probably could have convinced myself the 36 dots weren't necessary, and the 21 Nickel isn't as much of a stretch as when I was about 13. However, I'm happy with my decision and my collection.

I collect Canadian Mint silver coins mostly, i.e. 20 for 20,Year of the Rabbit,Transportation series, etc. I also like circulation coins when they become available from the mint. I have a small collection of circulated coins dating back to the 1800's. I also have a few paper money bills dating back to 1923.
