(If this is in the wrong section feel free to move it mods.. I didn't know where to put it)
God I love my mom!!
So, me and my mom frequently sell/buy at flee markets, tag sales, auctions, etc, and I go with her when I can, but since me and my fiancé had a baby last march I haven't been able to go wih her as much... But every time she goes to one if anyone has anything coin related she usually buys it for me.
She knows what I collect, and used to collect with her father and then my (late) father, but recently passed the collection to me, so she has a general understanding.. Not so much on grading or cleaning but she does ok. Usually she gets me Morgan's if there are any, or
Buffalo nickel's, Indian heads/Wheat lots etc.
The one place she randomly buys odd things is in the category of world coins.. I don't know much about them and she knows less, but none the less she always buys them for me. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with everything she buys me, but for foreign coins my primary interest is pre 1930, more so pre 1900. Usually when she called me and says she got a lot of world coins it means 1950's-now.. That's what I've come to expect following the past purchases..
So she called me around dinner time tonight saying she bought me a small lot of world coins for $4 at the flee market she was selling at today, so I ran down to her house (she lives a half mile down the road) this evening to get them fully expecting newer foreign coins. And to my (pleasant) surprise this is what she hands me... (O, as well as a nice new light for my coin desk)
(I have no idea how to grade any of these, I will be posting pictures of them in the appropriate section when I get a chance, this is just a list of what she got... For $4..) I'm not asking you guys grades (yet, lol) the grade in () is just my guess, I haven't gotten to fully examine them out of the cardboard 2x2's yet though..
Anyways, here they are:
1735- VOC Netherlands Dutch East Indies (the Holland version, single lion in square) good detail, now the oldest coin in my collection! Prior was 1790. I'd guess this ones at least EF.. It's in really good condition

1891- English one penny. Most detail still (VF?)
1899- English one penny. Very very good detail, but dented, like it was hit with something small. (EF+details?)
1896- English half penny. Good detail (VF?)
1862n- Italy 5 centesima. (F?)
1867n- Italy 10 centesima. (VF+?)
1878- Brazil 100 Ries (VF/EF?)
1896- Brazil 100 Ries (F?)
1882- (1299 Islamic) Zanzibar 1 pysa. (VF/EF)
A couple of them have tiny spots of vertigris.. I'll have to treat that soon.. I don't think it'll hurt the value of these right? I just wanted to share as I am very happy, and my fiancé's eyes kinda glass over when I talk coins. I know none are really valuable at all, and no silver.. But for $4.. I'd say she did pretty good!! The VOC is by far my favorite!! So nice for the age! I have a bunch of 1870's-early 1900's English pennies and half penny but the 3 in this lot are dates I don't have yet so its perfect!! I cant wait until I can get pics up, for some reason the image optimizer hasnt been working for me yesterday or today... I'll post pics of each in the right sections as soon as its working again and I get a minute. Thanks for listening to my rant guys!
Again, god, I love my mom!
