Rooting around on ebay, this item tended to stick out. Initially the idea went against my grain, but after a time of thinking it over, it is kind of a neat item.

Silver-Coin-Clock-W/-Morgan-On-Ebay

Branching into a different area of thought though... the surrounding wood would tone the coins - wood it knot?

Oak-ay, I'm board with the puns now, but pining for an answer (so I will leaf off here).

um...wow. That certainly looks like someone's weekend shop project. $144 for $65 worth of cleaned/flawed silver? Pass.

I think it's kinda neat, I'd hang it above my coin desk. Id probably make one myself though.. Clock kits are pretty darn cheap.. And I could use coins of my choice.. But that's definitely pretty neat, thanks for the idea!

Haven't seen one of those since I was a kid. My Dad had one . He always kept it on his dresser. I loved that clock. Never knew what happened to it after he passed away. It was not real wood it was plastic with fake wood grain and clear plastic over the coins. It also came in a non morgan model with another Kennedy at 12:00.

I have seen a few of the Kennedy models at auction recently for $60 - $70

It might be cool is the holes were cut out so coins in air tights could be put there. The coins would not be damaged and you could swap them out as you see fit!

I believe capital or someone else produced these or a model similar where you could just put whatever coins you wanted in them. And yes all the ones I've seen are fake woodgrain made of plastic.

CoinsKelly - good idea with the airtights!

It also makes sense making them with plastic woodgrain. It might be kind of fun to make one of these from some of the thick, neon-glow, green plexi I once got when a store was throwing out a large display. Maybe sometime in the future.

I suppose that the wood could harm the coins however they are completely exposed in the back.

It seems that some lettering was removed from the face of the clock.

Yes Capital Plastics sold these in the 1980's as I recall, there was a dealer that showed up at some of the same shows I had bourse tables at, they used to sell these clocks, wood grain, white or plastic - they didn't have coins in them, I believe they were around $45.00 back then - way too expensive for me to spend money on when there were still coins in cases at the show! LOL.
