Hello everyone, I was recently doing some Canadian penny roll searching and kept all of the copper cents dated pre 1996. I separated them into 3 piles: one for pre 1982 USA coins, one for pre 1982 Canadian cents and the last pile for 1982-1996 Canadian. I know that the value of these coins are around 2X FV and, I am looking to sell them to buy other coins.
Does anyone know how I can sell copper pennies? I have tried on Kijiji but, I am getting no replies.

best I can say is ebay or wait until you get 50 posts and you can sell them here on the forum... There is a section for sales , and trades

Just a heads up for coins pre 1953 I wouldn't sell for their copper value and definitely don't sell any coins pre 1937 for their copper.

There is a section for sales , and trades You need to wait until you have 250 posts before you can sell on the forum, 50 posts before you can buy. @ 50 posts you can respond to a trade but cannot list a trade.

Thanks for the help, I will for sure try one of those techniques. And, all of the coins are post 1960. I keep all of the pre 1960.

There are people that sell 1 pound - 10 pound bags on ebay, I've never paid attention to if they actually sold or not. Shipping can get expensive too. Sell them as unsorted for variety/errors 1960-1996 pennies, etc...

Shipping and ebay fees, plus your time, will kill any value over face. Roll the little buggers up, take them to the bank ablnd buy silver. It takes up 100x less room and will rise in value faster then copper. Or donate them to a local penny drive and let karma pay you back.

The thing is, what would you do with copper pennies if you buy them? Does copper really have the market?

Thanks for all the input guys. In the end, I just decided to roll them up and send them to the bank. With them money, I purchased some silver quarters and dimes!

I think most people who hold on to the copper are hoping and praying the government will allow them to be melted...other than that I can't imagine people buying them up with any real margins.
But that's just me.

Lots of other things are made of copper. Like wire and pipe. Forget the pennies. Sell them as is and be done with them why melt? melt into what?
