I wanted some more "high" grade buffalo's any date. So I went to ebay typed in: "ms-65 Buffalo nickels"

First one that came up were 1938-D MS-65. Price was $65 for buy it now. But it's going for $45 for Auction with no bid.

So what do these go for? I want a new MS-65 Buffalo nickel. But I don't know what to pay. I tried using a Buffalo nickel value website and it states: $71 dollars for MS-65.

Don't worry about what comes up for sale; check Completed Auctions to see what they're actually selling for.

And check Cheapslabs.com; I found quite a few MS65 Buffs there.

Depends on who is calling it MS65 and what date and mintmark it is of course. Stick with PCGS graded coins and you'll do fine. Price guides are only that, a guide, a top graded coin will always bring more than the price guide shows, while an ugly coin can still grade at MS65 might be worth only half of the price guide. Dealers use the greysheet among others to determine pricing, they usually buy at 20% or more back of the bid price, unless the coin is superb for the grade, then the sky can be the limit.

For common date MS65 Buffalo nickels I'd personally pay no more than $45.00 for one, some of the more common dates (1937-D & 1938-D) can be had in MS66 or MS67 for well under $100.00

The 1938-D Buffalo is uber-common in MS65 and MS66. For only a few dollars more than an MS65 you can by a very nice MS66 of this issue.
