At $30 each they are probably just buying them off ebay and repacking them and still making $10 a coin. Ridiculous asking price if you ask me!

I think the Perth Mint have lost the plot, with a lot of their "releases" you can buy them 12 Months later cheaper than dealers buy, surely this business model will eventually collapse. $30 for the 1966 50c is optimistic, the UNC coins are slowly sneaking towards $15-$20 on ebay but it will be many years and a World War or 2 before Silver hits $90 oz.

Well when you look at all Perth Mint products, they average 3 times spot. So really this price is just following there previous policy. Not that I'm gonna buy one any time soon.

When I check the Sunday paper, here in Perth, every week. There is always someone advertising, wanting to buy 1966 50c. Maybe it's the Perth Mint. Steve :)

If they'd waited 3 years and did a 50th Anniversary folder then perhaps it would be driven by something other than greed.

The last coin show I was at, a dealer had some BU 1966 Aust. 50 Cents for US$11 each. A few years ago, I found a polished '66 Aust. 50 Cents in a bargain bin for US$1!

About 3 months ago I got 46 at my local bank for $23. :)
People sell their silver to PM and these 50's are no doubt part of the PM modus operandi!

Hmm, I buy these at bullion...why would anyone pay triple bullion for one?

Looks like they have been saving up the coins sold to them at ridiculously low prices and selling them off with a bit of bling packaging. They are double dipping on this and saving on the refining cost to get the impurities out of the 80% silver coins. Current melt on these is about $10 Aus (they are probably only paying $6-$7 each for these) at $30 each and bugger all effort (No Minting) and they are probably cleaned as well. What a rip off. Shame on you Perth Mint
