This is why I'm a HUGE fan of trading. I've got what you want and you've got what I want. Let's trade. About a month ago, I purchased an early 1920's fire department call box. I paid around 100 dollars. Last week, at an estate sale I purchased a pair of mid 20th century Japanese paintings done on silk. You gotta love samurai's on horseback. For these two paintings I paid 30 dollars. Unless my research was wrong, these items could bring anywhere from 400 - 800 dollars for all. In exchange for my items I received 12 raw ASE's 1990's - 2000's plus 2 slabbed and graded PCGS ASE's MS70. I can safely say the value of the ASE's is around 500 plus. This means I have 130 dollars in 14 coins which magically works out to 9.28 each. I'm happy. Plus the fire department call box weighs around 50 pounds. The ASE's weigh around 14 ounces . That is how I turned this: Into This:

This Bartering seems to be the new in thing that many are doing and that worked out real well for both parties in my estimation.... I looked into it a bit on CL, but alas I don't wanna put in the time and effort to meet and deal with other humans lol. But to each their own I Do like estate sells and will make and exception there when the items for sale meet my interest.... I recently grabbed a lot of 1:24 Nascar die-cast cars for 615 total and 121 total cars ( My cost per car average right now is $6.66 each ) plus more I have added up over 130.... Anyhow only working weekends right now bartending and watching the kid rest of time, so its my new bread and butter. I went back to my ebay origins/roots as I once had 72 of those 1:24ths. I sold everyone one of them for no less then 20 each and sold MANY for 30 to 40 and a few real rare Earnhardt sr. cars for 150 to 250.... So I knew I could do well with them as I know the market like back of my hand. Anyhow, sold 11 in first three days from 45 to 30 each.... Smaller then a shoebox and easy ship as low as 8 bucks even with USPS new increases. Flat rate boxes are 12.35 now in my area, crazy.... Anyhow, when all the dust clears I may get more PMz later when I complete my diecast empire lol....

Silverhawk,
I do my trading with friends not strangers on Craigslist. I never tried using CL for trades. The people I know that did try it always got really bad or garbage offers for their stuff. You have a Gold Eagle and the trader is offering you 2 infant car seats (with stains) and a case of 12 year old Mobil motor oil. Not good enough? He'll throw in a pair of AMC movie passes that he won from a radio station call-in and you'll have to drive 33 miles to claim your free movie passes.
I've been trading with fellow dealers/collectors for almost 20 years. Nothing new to me. Sometimes you win and sometimes you don't do as well. When you trade, it's always a give and take. No traders remorse.

LOL! That's awesome. Growing up in the 80s and early 90s baseball cards were huge. There was this kid who would always be trying to trade coupons he clipped for baseball cards, eating worms for money, trading pieces of his lunch for stuff etc. That kid either turned out to become incredibly successful as an adult or he became a fraudster and is in jail.

Wise to do it the way you do with trusted friends, nice....
Lol that is too funny. I so feel ya on the garbage offers. Two STAINED car seats and down here you would get 4 free Ice Bear SPHL (Southern proffesional hockey league)tickets on weenie dog race night and if you show your ticket at stand get a 5 dollar hotdog and coke combo....
One would have to push the fact that four family members on a night out on town with a great dinner deal is hard to come by. Your only out 20 bucks for the gut bomb stadium dogs and 5 more for parking, not including gas exspense to drive down to coliseum of course ;).....
I would need a high grade 1 oz. gold St. Gaudens if I was gonna offer up all the gem items above....

These days everyone is a "dealer". Trading up is pretty much impossible anymore.
