It is getting really hard to find coins with the Date numerals mixed up (like 1280 for 1820, etc). So when this 1703 Duarious from Hungary came along, I grabbed it despite it's terrible condition.
(Yep, I prefer VF's and better, and somewhat larger coins).

Here is what the reverse is supposed to look like -
Transposed-Date-Piece,-Condition-=--Only-A-Mother-Could-Love

and here (sob) is the 1073 error piece -
Transposed-Date-Piece,-Condition-=--Only-A-Mother-Could-Love

Nice find--I would grab that without hesitation, even in that grade!
Clearly transposed date numerals, and I wonder how many were struck before that was caught?
I have not found one described elsewhere, so could it be scarce?

Do you have other coins with transposed dates? I collect overdates, so the date is the first thing I look at--but I have yet to find a transposed digit.

That is an epic fail! I know this was made 310 years ago, but how does QC not catch something like that, before, during or even after striking?

Interesting note: Years ago I worked at a calendar printing company. One year they scrapped over $100,000.00 worth of desk calendars because they had Christmas on December 23.

Yes, DVCollector, I do have others. Here are 2 from Austria .

This 1087 (should be 1807) 15 Kreutzer got me started -
Transposed-Date-Piece,-Condition-=--Only-A-Mother-Could-Love

and this 1951 (should read 1915) is my high-grade one -
Transposed-Date-Piece,-Condition-=--Only-A-Mother-Could-Love

Thanks for asking,
Bill

Wow--those are great! It's easy to understand the mistake of dating the die as it would look struck.
