At lunch time I went to a coffee shop and got nine cents in change, which yielded a single copper cent. Then I went to a nearby CitiBank and picked up ten rolls of cents. The take: three Wheats (40's and 50's, nothing special), three small-date 1982's, one of which is kind of grungy and probably not worth keeping, five 2009 Lincoln bicentennials, which I'm keeping because I like them, and lots of copper. Then I checked ebay to discover that a silver proof set of 2010 America the Beautiful Quarters I bid for and won last week are due to be delivered to my home today, and immediately afterward I'm checking the live price of gold.

Is there any hope for the likes of me?

I have also asked myself if there is any help for me out there perhaps we should set up a club for anyone that needs help

It's not over until you start asking strangers at the check out line if you could examine their change before they leave the store.

It's not over until you ask the guy from the Salvation army if you can take a quick look in the kettle. It's locked? That's OK, I can peek through the slot.

It's not over until you inspect your change, declare nothing of value, then ask for fresh change in its place.

It's not over until your pajamas have coins printed all over them.

It's not over until you start collecting Coin Glass too(look it up and you'll see what I mean).

I have the same problems. I often find myself making decisions solely based off of my coin addiction. I go to certain grocery stores because they have coin stars that I can check for silver. If I get a free minute at work, I hop on Coin Community or cruise around ebay for a minute. I constantly check all of my change. I even have others check their change for me if I know them well enough

After getting back into the hobby only recently, I now find myself thoroughly examining change every time I visit a store/restaurant/whatever. I often wonder if people are giving me weird looks and end up shoving it in my pocket to sort through later.

When I go to friends and family member's houses, I ask if I can "rifle" through their change. This has led to the discovery of a few small hordes which I ended up buying. One had a 1954 Cinco Pesos gold coin that my friend didn't even know he had.
There's also the constant scanning of the ground for dropped coins, metal detecting for coins at the river, checking coin-star reject slots, buying rolls from the bank, going through them and saving what I want, rolling the rest and cashing them in at one bank to take the cash to another bank to buy their rolls....I've got it pretty bad myself - though maybe not as bad as mds308....that one had me cracking up!
Rest in Peace

Dad; " Steve you only collect cents and silver eagles?"
me; " Dad I'm trying not to look at anything else because it's only been a year and I buy coins like a jerk!"

...true story :)
