Hey, you never know! I didn't think it was possible but then my numbers came up, 5 and the mega matched what I saw on TV. 120 million dollars later, I am now thinking about what coins I'd like to add to my collection. I plan on spending 119 million on coins and 1 million for shelter, food, and women. What do you guys think of that budget? I'm going for the next 1794 dollar, that is perhaps my favorite issue, and am in the market for an 1822 Half Eagle if anyone has one lying around. My ultimate goal is to beat Eliasberg at his own game and get one piece of every date and mintmark including some newly discovered pieces. How would you spend my lucky windfall?

Buy the 1913 Liberty nickel that is going to come up at auction! I'm very happy for you, I wish I had that kind of budget for coins.

If you won 120 youll be lucky to pocket 60 mil from it.
But I honestly wouldnt spend almost all of it on coins. If you came back with 60 Id invest half to be set up for life and then take 10-15 to coins 5 for other stuff and 5 or 10 for an emergency fund

I would probably spend $120 million on pennies. THAT would keep me busy for a few days.

The sad thing is, with high rarities going for $2M - $14M, it wouldn't buy you that much ...

Did you actually win the lottery jackpot? If so, that's BEYOND AMAZING. If I had the money, I'd probably call up every federal reserve branch in the nation and ask if they'd mind me having whatever Ikes and Halves are sitting around in the vaults. Jokes aside, you have the means to put together a collection most could only dream of. Decide on a reasonable amount that you'd want to dedicate to your hobby and go from there. It should be quite an experience hunting top examples of those key dates. I wouldn't start with multi-million dollar coins right off the bat though.

CONGRATULATIONS! I agree with fanton, it won't get you much.
1: Pay off debt. 2: Get some needs (if you need anything new) 3: Don't spend too much. 4: Make sure your upset for life. 5: Emergency Fund 6: FUN
This might not be the best guide but, ya.

WOW CONGRATULATIONS! I agree with penny4me, send everyone a little something something. Haha, seriously though if it were me I'd put some of that money away for each child or grandchild you might have and take care of family, such as parents and grandparents. But remember there is no time limit to spent your money so take your time and do what you want with it. Again congrats.

I will try not to let it change my life I would like to be the same person With that Id say no more than 20 mil in coins 40 at the absolute max. With that kind of money you can easily sell some stuff off to get some other things you want. Definite get 30-40 mil into high performing safe stocks like an Exxon that will give you a nice payday off the dividend alone. Absolutely have an emergency fund so you dont end up like a lot of the lotto winners. Personally I would give 10-15 mil of that to some of my favorite charities or research causes since youd still have more than enough left over. But overall just be smart about it. It was free money which is why a lot of people burn through it fast but just treat it like it was income. If you wouldnt consider spending your last paycheck on something its something you probably can live without
