Hi everyone, I've been noodling through a fair bit of circulating coins recently in a fairly random order just picking out anything that may be worth keeping, I figured I would start to take note of future noodling as is may provide some useful information to others on the forum.

In any case I have started with 5c noodling looking for 1972.

----------
Stats:
Noodled
$500 - 10,000 coins
Time: 7.5 hours (rounded to closest 15minutes)
Location: Western Sydney

Found:
10x 1972 - 5c
*** 1 in 1,000
*** $5 - $18ea (based of completed ebay sales as of Feb13)
----------

Will upload pic shortly for grading.
Nothing else of interest found

Next focus will be 10,000 x 20c coins. Will update stats when completed.
Hope this may be of use for anyone considering noodling 5c's

I noodled $50 worth of these little suckers a few weeks ago and they just about burnt my eyes out.
I did however find a 1972 and a 2011 coin

Gee, you sure picked the 'best' coins to start noodling with.....
Urrgh, those 5's are so tiny, and like trout, my eyes are burning after going through $100 worth this morning!!
Unlike you, I didn't get a single 1972....
I see for 7.5 hours' work, you found 10 coins, so at $10 each that's $100 worth of reward - even though that's before any selling costs....

Seeing you're in NSW, I'd be looking through 50 cent coins; that's where the 2010 Rotateds seem to be found; they'd be $50 each, and there should be 1991 RAMS; say $5 each and 2000 Incuseds at $25 each - 50s give you good bang for your buck.

In the 20c don't forget to check for rotated 2001 Platy's - they do exist - though I can't get one for the life of me....

Thanks for the heads up with the 20c rotated, I've been keeping the commemorative and haven't given a 2nd thought for the platy's, Any idea just how rotated they range from?

10 72's in $500 is a very good strike rate. My longer term average is closer to 1 in $80

Wow $9000, can't contribute to those stats yet, everything I've managed to read up on mules are they are possibly under 6,000 minted, cannot find anything official. I may be off though, will get to 10,000 $1 after my run of 20c and 50c, hopefully find some of the errors you've mentioned above

There's a good thread with some pics. on the 2001 20c, as well as some others that may be found:

https://goccf.com/t/110826

The coin pictured looks about 170 degrees out of kilter, and not sure if there are varying degrees of rotation in the 20c. The 2001 Dollar is famous for being found in all angles of rotation, and people collect the clock face positions from 1-12 o'clock. The 20c seems to much harder to locate....

Sounds possibly like a ramstrike which would be quite a valuable error. Please post pictures!

I think its just a smidgen off centre. Not a ramstrike. Sorry to get excited.
