Just sent an email with the pictures of the 1889 P Morgan dollar with the die gouge. They requested the pictures through email. I'll update the status once I hear from them. In the meantime, even if it shows signs of polish, should I have it graded if they deem it a discovery piece or a new variety?

I have heard that ANACS is the TPG for VAM attribution. ...I just don't like their holder.

Id probably take the shot and send it in anyway and let them see it in hand instead of trying to do it from photos

I think its like 20 dollars plus shipping for them. Unless everyones confident that its something else and they can say what it was I would just want to remove the doubt personally

The only person that can designate a new VAM variety is Leroy Van Allen. I'd assume if John Roberts at ANACS takes another look at it it will remove all doubt, if Leroy needs to see it, then John can help with that. But I'd trust John Robert's opinion on a VAM attribution.
