The 25 cent gold Humming bird coin arrived today I ordered a few weeks ago. It is a great looking coin numbered 1948/10,000. I sure thought it would not be here until March.

I bought the coin yesterday from the Vancouver Boutique. Pricey and a bit too small to properly show the details, but I still like it. Looks nice with my Caribou and Cougar coins together.

it looks nice but too small. I would prefer it at least 1/25th oz

It really does have wonderful detail when it's blown up in a photo, but it's so tiny I can't appreciate the detail without strong magnification. Oh, well, since I'm not really into gold coins, I guess it really doesn't matter. Now, if they were to reuse the design on a larger coin, perhaps a silver or even a circulation coin (the latter is obviously extremely unlikely), it might be a totally different story!

I saw the coin today at Canada Post. I agree it's too small. I needed a magnifying glass to see it clearly.

Umm the whole purpose of this series is how it's the smallest gold coins...
But only bad thing is both previous one had only the head and this one is full body and bird..

I agree it's a little to small. Maybe they should try to make them as thick as an old ducat to make the diameter bigger, but keep the weight the same.

is it really harder?
it's just putting a small blank into a smaller hole and striking with a smaller die.
