Al Overton is the man who first codified Bust Half varieties by die pair, and those varieties are named for him. 1832 is a tough date to get with a full motto. I'm new to collecting and I only have 3 bust halves, but to me the letters aten't a big deal. Actually it is things like that which I find interesting about this series. These halves seem to have so much character, defects (or weaks strikes) and all. From an interest standpoint, not just a monetary one, they are tops on my list. Another great example can be found in the obverse stars on bbddbb10's coin, the way they extend to the rim. You can tell these coins have some history. Report this Post to the Staff
