All 2009 coins have a lower then average mintage but everyone and his brother have saved them so I don't think there will ever be a big premium on them. There are a lot of varieties on the cents to look for as well as a few errors. John1

uncirculated boxes already sell for far over face. A few loose ones may not command much premium, but for a penny a piece, why not save the shiny ones?

They made 4 that year, so I always liked to keep them. Also, imagine all the 1955 double dies in 1955. The error could (I doubt it), but could be the same situation.

From what I remember off hand, 2009 was a disaster of a year for U.S. coins. By April or May all of the mint's production lines were shut down, with the quarters being kept in production the longest.
As I recall the nickel and dimes have by far the fewest coins minted in many decades. Check out the US coin facts on this forum. The pennies had well over a billion of the coins spewed out, but you're right the one to save are those in good shape. In fact the same could be said for any 2009 coin.

I keep them because I like them. I have yet to find the one on which Lincoln is standing in front of the U.S. Capitol, but I have quite a few of the others.

You can get the four 2009 uncirculated pennies free from Littleton when you buy the 71 Commemorative quarters from 99 to 12 at face value - $17.75 - that's all 50 State Quarters, 6 DC & territories and 15 National Park. I'm wondering what mint mark they would have? This ad is everywhere recently.

I think the cabin and the capitol building are the hardest for me to find.

I don't know why it takes you guys so long to find the 09 pennies I found all 4 in 09 out of pocket change and I find about 15-60 per box of $25 in pennies. Should I save the 04 and 05 nickels since they only minted those designs 1 year as well?
