Like many, I've been waiting for the revised Dansco 7070 to come out. In the meantime, I've considered just leaving my US Type collection in 2x2 flips and putting them into an album of vinyl pages.

I saw the Dansco 7000 online, which holds 12 coins per page, for a total of 108 slots. This is enough to handle my type collection and leave some room for future growth. Does anyone see any big advantages of using the 7000 vs simply buying several 20-slot vinyl sheets and putting them in a 3-ring binder?

I don't have a 7070, and don't intend on buying one. I have my type set in 2x2 flips, and pages to hold them. I eliminated some coins Dansco includes that I really don't feel are a separate type, those are more like a variety to me.

Fuzzy, are you just using a standard 3-ring binder? I'm wondering if the weight of 20 coins per page would make these pages sag over time. Plus, a 3-ring Walmart binder wouldn't be as "elegant" to flip (no pun intended) through as an album would be...

Very good point that keeping them in 2x2 flips means I get to define the Type Collection as whatever I want it to be.

they are in a 3-ring binder presently. Later, I may get a Dansco binder with pages to hold 2x2 flips. The pages were sagging some, but the bookshelf now has less room and I am holding the binder covers together with a rubber band.

So, I did further reading and found the Intercept Shield US Type album, said to have issues with a couple holes fitting the coins. This album, too, appears to be discontinued now.

I use the Dansco 7000 albums for all of my dark side (foreign) and miscellaneous coins.

I like them, especially since they match my other Dansco albums.

I have had some of the plastic pages for years and can testify that eventually the holes for the binder's clamps can actually stretch an break if the album is stored on a bookshelf.

Over a long period of time (20 years+) I have actually experienced where 2X2s will slip out of the pockets and fall if the 3-ring is tipped upside down. So overall, this has made me think they do sag/deteriorate/whatever over time with the not only the weight of the coins, but also just with aging.

I like the compactness of albums and, to me, they look more professional and aesthetically pleasing. But I do not like the fact that albums will tone MS coins over time, even though some toning is amazing to see. I have to wonder if future collectors will say, "What were they thinking by letting the coins slowly degrade?!:

So my best coins are in 2X2s. My circulated, or extra, common BU coins are in albums (for now) .
