If it's real, it is 90% gold and 10% copper, and would have a spot value of about $194. It should also weigh about 4.18 grams. The $194 is for the gold value, and yours looks to be high AU to low MS so it could be worth more. Hope someone more knowledgeable on gold coins chimes in - I'm no way an expert. If you bought it for the $45 on the 2x2, you got quite a steal! Oh and

Forget spot. It's an AU $2.50 Indian. Assuming its real it is a $300-$335 piece.

Wow that's good news, I did not purchase the coin for $45 but somebody in my family did a long time ago. I inherited it.

Appears genuine and in AU condition which would put it around $300 if problem-free. Looks like a nice coin.

Send it to a grading site and the coin will be worth around 300 USD. Or get 250 post on this site and someone will buy it from you on this site.

Looks legit to me. I would also recommend getting it certified. There have been a small spat of fakes lately, too (albeit 1929s): http://fakes.numismetrica.com/2013/...-half-eagle/EDIT: Whoops, yours is a *quarter* eagle, the fake making its rounds is a half eagle. No worries. :-)

Based on the photos, I don't see anything that would condemn it. Details look AU and I agree with the $300 valuation.

One of my gold Indians had the reeds on the edge filed down to fit into a piece of jewelry. If the edge is missing or partially missing, there would be no need to send it in for grading. If it has the proper edge, you should be OK. Judging by ebay prices the coin could do anywhere from 300+ to 1000. Condition and how bad two bidders want it will decide where it ends up or how you price it when trying to sell it. I'm going to assume that you are keeping it because it came from inside the family. Nice coin. People love those Indians.
