First Canada and I believe soon the USA will get rid of the penny. But will buying boxes of pennies pay off in the future? Not so much for copper but selling unsearched lots on ebay. Do you think there is a profit to be made?

Who knows. You can always buy a box though. But I really don't think they will sell for much.

Personally, I don't think they'll be worth much. Maybe in a hundred years or so. I'm sure you could make SOME money, but I say don't expect much.

Now, maybe if you put a Mercury dime on the end of those rolls...

Little if any in terms of profit.

Even if the US got rid of the penny think about how many other people would be doing the same thing to load up on them. Literally billions are made every year, theres just far to many of them and too many people will hoard them if they got rid of it.

At some point they may carry a premium but it wont be in our lifetime and problem not the lifetime after that. You can still easily find uncirculated pennies from the 70s for not much of a premium.

With inflation they might get to 0.05C, but it will take 1000 to buy a loaf of bread. I would say no...however, nickles....
