Picked up a spiffy silver coin today. It's a 50 Francs from 1976.

Nice coin

May I know its weight and price ? Just curiuos, I asked my dealer about a silver 1 pound coin last week (8 gms) and its price was 11$US, thats why I'm asking

It's pretty heavy and clos to an ounce. Nice one.

I see them in MS 63 or better all the time
but shipping is 50% of the price of the coin
A pitty nobody seems to sell them grouped
There were close to 50 million of them over the years 74 to 80
and it looks like the French were hoarding them because everything offered on ebay is MS quality

Yes, they've really been more of a bullion coin similar to our Silver Eagles. I don't know how many circulated in commerce, but from what I've seen it can't be too many.

I don't know what year catalog you're looking at, but if you see any for sale for $11.50 grab as many as you can and I'll pay you twelve for them
