I've just listed this 1933 shilling forgery on ebay if anyone is interested in fake predecimal coins.This one fooled me when I originally purchased it

This one came from an Australian seller about a year ago but I didnt realise it was fake straight away

When in hand you can see it's not silver and a lot of the details are rounded but it doesn't look like ware but it is a very deceptive copy

Last time I tried putting up a forgery such as that it got pulled by ebay.

Yeah it's not stamped and could easily be sold as genuine because I think it would fool a lot of people so we'll see what happens

Now that frightens me!

Is the surface scratching on the front of the coin from being cleaned or is it more to make it look the real thing?

It's probably where they have gotten rid of any imperfections or tried to imitate circulation marks

Thanks,its frightning whats out there.

Fake notes doing the rounds in Sydney again,from what I can gather they are extremely high quality photostats covered in a plastic.

Listing removed by ebay,I'll bet if it was listed as genuine it would

Thats the shady thing steve. ebay should allow counterfeits that are idenitified as such as not illegal items.

ebay removed the 1933 shilling forgery but not this coin which was listed at the same time which is also a forgery

Bizarre. Would love for you to relist that shilling and not mention genuine. Then we could report it and watch them do nothing.
