I think the year is between 1965 and 1989, but not sur?

1967 to 1989.
Not sure about value though. I'd look in some Australian auction catalogues to see what similar Australian coins go for and take a bit from that.

My GUESS would be around $200, but it really needs to go to auction to find out.

That would be a major problem for me, if I owned it. I would want to keep it. If it was sold, I would know the price, but I would no longer own it!

How did you acquire it in the first place? THAT, at least, would give you an idea of the value of it in the market from which you bought it.

This coin was given to me as a gift by a person
with whom I buy a lot of Canadian coin.

I think that valuation is a little light In New Zealand I have seen people trying to sell similar error coins in Excess of NZ$600.00(Close to US$500.00. I did a quick search of Nobles archives and found this( Note date of sale) Aussi dollar is almost one to one with US$ and the sale price does not include tax and BP:
