Just received a call from a local Charity Drive that is collecting cents for the charity. They informed me they have $400 in Canadian cents that I can come and pick-up on Friday afternoon. That's awesome. It is good to have connections. The charity is for a local french school in a older part of town. I'm hoping that some of the kids have hit up their grandparents for cents that they might have had stashed around the house. You never know what you can get. I also have a connection for another local charity that is having a cent drive. They have a large glass container that they are filling with cents. Once it is full...they will be having a contest for people to guess how many cents are in the container. Each guess will cost $2 and at the end...the closest guess wins half of contest entry fee...not half the cents. I talked to the person in charge of the cent drive and told her that if she is willing to sell the cents to me. I will come in and spend the day counting and rolling the coins for her. I believe in the charity the collection is for so I do not mind doing it. I would of done it even if they would not of sold me the coins. She was so happy that she would not have to count and roll them and then take them to the bank and I get to spend the day playing in a pile of coins. I love it. I will see if I can get a pic of the container this weekend and post it here.

I know that the Habitat for Humanity is having a cent drive as well. There is another gentleman in town (not on the forums here) that asked if they would sell the cents they collect to him instead of taking all the coinage to the bank. They told him they would not and that they will be taking the coins to the bank. Ahh well.
My suggestion would be to watch for Penny Drive containers throughout town and contact the main office for whatever charity the drive is for. Maybe even try the Habitat for Humanity one. Maybe you will receive a different answer.

Just waiting for Mike to see when is a good time. I can accommodate most times except for Saturday Nights.
Good luck finding a few locations to pick-up some cents.

that sounds like an excellent way to help a charity. If they rolled those coins and took them to a bank, that would have cost them someone's time. So with you rolling and buying the coins, that increased their value.

Just let me know where to meet you both. I will be the large man in the silver Chevy minivan. I have a tripod if you need one. I can bring it...no problem. Thanks Fuzzy317. I offered to roll the coins for the school as well but they rolled them as they received them. They were having a contest for each classroom to see which could collect the most.

OK...picked up the cents from the first charity. $401.00 worth. I was informed they are collecting door-to-door tonight and should net aprox another $100 in cents. Now I just hope our tax return arrives this week so I can get the next load from the other charity. Well...I think I should dig in. Who knows what goodies are waiting in the mix. Have a great weekend all.

Thanks all. I will post any good finds. Just keep your eyes out when your at your local stores. Read all the charity jugs you see. That is how I found the first charity drive. The second one just fell into my lap as they were collecting for the school on my Sat night bowling league. I asked the fundraiser about buying the cents when they were done and she was more then happy to unload them to me instead of having to carry them to the bank. I picked them up at 2PM this afternoon and gave her another $5 to put in for the charity. Every little bit helps.

Got the call at 9:30 tonight. The Door-to-Door collection was finished and the tally was in. I made the drive across town and picked up $159.00 more in cents. Makes todays haul $560.00. I was ready to start them then I noticed a half box I forgot about under my desk from the Feb 3 haul. Half box of Distribution Center wrapped cents. I have four boxes left and not much to speak of from the rolls. Looking forward to starting the new hoard. I will update with any finds.
