Hello everyone, I found this 1916 well worn Mercury dime and I was wondering what your thoughts are as to whether it is a d or s mintmark. Thank you for your input.

I'm not sure. It does look like a D but it may not be in one of the 4 known positions. Here's a link showing the 4 known positions for the D, maybe it will help http://blog.davidlawrence.com/index...ch-6-1916-d/

Can you post a close-up pic of the MM area?

In the first pic it looks like a D but in the new pic it looks like an S. with the last pic posted I'm leaning towards S but am hoping its a S.

I am leaning towards a "D". It looks similar to the die 1, there is a lot of wear so maybe my eyes are being tricked.
I hope it's a D!

after reviewing photos on the net of D and S Mint marks, it appears the mint mark is too far away from the bottom the branch stem, die 4 on the D has that distance but the position of the D is different.

I am stumped.
