hey guys, I spotted this coin in a lot on ebay and went ahead and bought entire lot for $20.
On the back of the holder of this coin is says proof? with $50 written.
Do you guys think this is a proof? id appreciate your thoughts, thank you very much.

It could very well be a proof, but you have to be careful. The mint that struck these also struck quite a few 'specimen' pieces for their own records, which were sold off when the mint closed a few years ago.

Even so, coins that allegedly show up are often reported as 'specimen' coins and they need to be examined by an expert who has acquired the knowledge in these.
I know some of the background behind these, but unforftunately, I don't know enough to identify the circulation strikes from the specimens.

First of all, it's a 1952H not 1952 and no 1952H proof is listed.

Second, it's impossible to tell unless you photo the raw coin instead of inside its plastic envelope.

It certainly doesn't look like a proof.

This piece has had the shine put to it & definately not a $50 coin.
Check completed listings.

fioti, Pertinax, sel_69l, and noahs-numismatics, I appreciate your thoughts on this coin. I went ahead and removed the holder and wow, it's just incredibly shiny for a non-proof coin, should make an excellent BU example dontcha think.
here are photos that I taken using minimal lighting which would kinda distort the shine and one in direct light.

I would be inclined to say not a proof as some of the details are not that well struck up, mainly the crown.

Not a proof.
There are a lot of surface abrasions that wouldn't be present in a proof coin.
