I've got a new love....the Two Cent Piece. I picked up this one this weekend for $30. How do you think I did?

I am a little concerned how popular these are becoming right now. :-) You did pretty good for $30 despite the problems on the coin its in reasonable shape.

Are you noticing more and more interest in these, nohope587? I was happy with the $30 price. The guy had it marked at Red Book based price originally...he wanted $49.

There is definitely some increase in the popularity of 2 cents recently.
I used to buy G4 examples for around 3-4$ a year or two ago, and today it's hard to get anything problem free under double that.

Not a bad price for that coin. I collect civil war coins and really like the Two Cent Piece. I have an MS65 red large motto on the way and it is beautiful. One reason I like the Two Cent Piece is that it is the first coin with IN God We Trust on it. I hope you continue to collect them.

That's exactly why I love them too! I wrote a blog about it last night and included that exact same thing in it, civilwarcoincollector.

Hey thestew, I'll warn you that Two Cent Pieces can be addicting. LOL. Some years ago I started to put together two sets, a MS and Proof. They are a very interesting series, lots of history involved what being started during the Civil War and all. Lots of die cracks and repunching of date numerals and lettering for the variety collector. The result for me was a Best of Show award for a Two Cent exhibit, so go for it, it is a collecting goal you'll never regret.

Thanks, Penny Guy. I love the Two Cent Piece and everything that it represents. I'll try and email you through here if that's ok to pick your brain a little. Would love to know the ins and outs of these beauties.
