1908 Wells Fargo no motto MS67 PCGS graded coin I payed 3000 for it. I'm a bit worried since I got it so cheap that it may be a fake. *** Edited by Staff to add images to post. ***

I agree that price is suspicious, but using only the pictures, it looks real

And the certificate number is the correct coin.

That is what I thought, but I'm still pretty new to this. Is there any other ways I can really make sure it's real once I get the item?

can you tell us where you purchased the item? that may go a long way of telling if its real or not also. There are certain websites that uses images of real coins for their items even though the coin that they send will have the same serial and be the correct date the slab and coin are both fake, that is why I ask where you purchased the coin since you are saying you do not have it ion your possession yet. Edit: Never mind I found it and if this isn't you selling then I am going out on a limb and saying and saying its fake http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-1908-W...em4ac22f8dff It says its coming from Alaska (which will take awhile to arrive just like from China, and they have 0 feedback. That is two red flags for me. That is without mention of the same coin still being for sale that you are saying you have already purchased and haven't received yet, that one is a HUGE red flag

Do not hesitate reporting to eBay/paypal. I wonder how many others have bought this coin. There was a scammer on ebay uk who built up a good reputation and then sold a group of the same expensive gold coins to many people and escaped with over £100k.

I recal hearing somewhere that PCGS holders should stack up ontop of each other if they are real... too good to be true.

I'm not really too sure what to think. I was so weary I got this person's phone number from them before I made payment. It was a Kentucky area code and they said they just moved there. She said her father passed away and left it to her. On top of that I got her to take a photograph of the item by her username and it all checked out. I imagine this is still a scam, but I imagine it's an american scam artist. I purchased the item on another website from the person she had the same name and no reputation on it either. I have opened a paypal dispute.

When spending that kind of money on a coin, ebay is not where I would go to buy it. Think I would spend the time to go to a good sized coin show or contact a major dealer to pick one of these up for you.

I purchased the item off of another site. They put it on ebay as well a while before I purchased it

Will PayPal hold the funds, to see if this transaction is ok?

I'm hoping they will. I paid last night, so I don't know how quickly they will receive it. It shows up now as sold on ebay as well.

This is THE best example of "know what you are buying before you buy it" that I have EVER seen. Once this plays out, the thread should be locked at the top of the forum as a lesson to warn other novices from making the same mistake. Most that I've seen have lost a couple hundred but how many among us can lose 3 grand? Not when the coin collectors are greying and living on fixed incomes.
Let's all pray that this works out for the best. Cheers
