I haven't looked it up in a while, but I think you're right. If you want one just to have, get an AU raw. They look nice and won't require all of your money. I love the heft and the ring to them.

what does it mean to be raw? today is payday so I'm gonna head up to the LCS and see what hes got again I also like digging through the world coins bucket he has and picking out the really strange and odd ones that attract me, maybe pick up a ben franklin just to have one as well

"Raw" means they're not graded, Mulder. You know, for the money, you might be better off with a 1 oz bullion coin. Best bang for the dollar, around $32.50 at my LCS right now. Why pay the premium, unless its the beauty of the coin you're looking for. That I understand. I've been staying away from the Franklins. The design doesn't do anything for me.

i got a silver eagle last time I was in his shop, I was thinking of going with something numismatic this time around with the dropping silver prices, maybe pick up some of his spot price silver coins as well
also, would it be disrespectful to pull out my 2013 black book in his shop when I'm not sure of prices of items I may be looking at?

Yes, the coins are the best. Maybe you'll hit on a Peace dollar. I think bullion or graded coins for long-term value these days. But I do love having a circulated silver coin in my hand.

ill see if hes got a Peace dollar in his spot price bucket, he had a lot of franklins and morgans, if not, ill just go with more quarters or another silver eagle, I have a very strange fascination with quarters that started when I was young, think it had something to do with spending pretty much my entire childhood in arcades, I cant imagine how many of those quarters were silver without knowing

The Standing Liberty quarter is about the prettiest coin you'll see, but I doubt there'll be any. I never come across them. Hey, don't about what you spent in the arcade. I'm 59 and if I'd had any sense when I was young, I'd have a room full of coins by now. You could walk into a bank and get silver dollars for paper dollars when I was a kid. I used to turn over my Silver Certificates to my mother so she could exchange them for silver dollars when that program was running. Maybe I should have been more selfish and said whatever I give you is half mine. Oh, well. It's my mudder!

Nice coins. Do you ever read the commemorative section. Commems posts pics of his classic commemorative collection and the history behind the coins. Now those are some beauties to collect.

I agree, I believe the regular 1922 is the most common of the Peace dollars.. Though many common ones can be found for the same prices. I don't think it would be rude pulling out your book.. Just me I guess but I see nothing wrong with wanting to be informed at all, and I doubt they would either. I'd definitely agree checking out the classic commemoratives section.. Some very nice halfs! My avatar is the 1925 Lexington Concord comm half just so you get an idea, lol. But there are alot of them and many are unbelievable.. The Lexington/Concord and the Stone Mountain were the two newest I've bought, there both in the classic commems section along with many many more from other members nicer than mine! Do you have the 1882 or the "s" proof version? (Just curious) the George Washington 1982 was the first 90% silver commemorative in quite some time, I believe the first 90% half in general since the '64 Kennedy. But the '82 is consitered a modern commemorative, the first of a new series, there's a whole series of classics also and again many are very very nice, definitely worth a look! Warning, lol, you may become addicted.. actually, here's pics of my two newest.. Just to save you time while searching (I live in mass and went to U-Mass so I'm kinda partial to the Lexington concord minuteman, lol. And the stone mountain is one of my favorite designs, sorry the pics on that one are so small, but you'll get the idea)

I'm on board with 1922. I see more of these than any other dated Peace dollar.
