AU50+ Red Brown* IMO from what I can see from the pics. I am weary of grading higher without the coin in hand.

I can't tell from the pics what that is on the reverse.

With the usual "it's tough to grade from a photo caveat", ICCS 63 Red lacquered, PCGS 62RB without the lacquer, "Genuine" with the lacquer.

Hi,

Nice coin, from the picture I see minimal contact points, no wear, 70-80% red, so my verdict would be MS-62 Red.

Good luck :-)

Don't know when or by whom or "which method". I purchased many in the early 80's and many at auction.

When I had my cents graded, many came back with the descriptive term "Lacquered" on the flip.

Many have a reflective shine on them but not all are labeled as being lacquered. With a 7x loop a reflective crease can be seen around 'some' of the details on 'some' of the cents. So I'm guessing that some have a heavier coating than some other cents. Some of my nickels 5 cents seem to have a lacquer on them also.
