Tim, I have no clue as to the quality or reputation of that vendor, so I can't comment on that. However, there's no way I could endorse a sight-unseen purchase of any gold valued much over bullion. Using that $5 as the example, today's bullion price for that coin is $161.89, and any additional value must be a function of the date and condition of the coin.
They're picking the date, and you're taking their word for the condition. To me, that math doesn't work, even if I knew I could trust them.
If I were going to buy a $5 Liberty Gold, it'd be this one, or one llike it:
http://www.harlanjberk.com/unitedst...s&linenum=21
Mintage of only 302,000, relatively clean rims, and only the mark near the arrowheads to take away from the eye appeal. What's more, it's $10 less than the one you're considering. For the record, that price is $20-30 more than the going rate at Heritage for similar coins.
And, $405 will buy you a Mint State $10 Liberty Eagle, with pictures.
