I've been through the baseball card phase, the comic book phase and gambling on football, but no hobby has had me as instantly addicted as Coin Roll Hunting. I've only been doing this for about 3 weeks and I can't slow down. When I started, my only plan was to check the occasional roll of halves but that plan was out the window when I found 2 40% Kennedys the first day. When I couldn't find halves, I grabbed dimes, quarters, nickels, pennies, dollars. If the bank had it, I wanted it. I ordered 2 boxes of halves for last week, and that wasn't enough. I ordered 4 for this week and found another bank receiving an order tomorrow that will give me a 5th box. The searching is great, but finding something is even better. Here are my totals so far for 3 weeks of hunting. HALVES 1 Franklin 2 90% Kennedys 24 40% Kennedys 25 NIFC Kennedys 6 Kennedy Proofs QUARTERS 6 pre 65 Washingtons DIMES 1 Mercury 18 pre 65 Roosevelts 9 1970-D Roosevelts with proof reverse NICKELS 5 War Nickels2 Liberty 2 Buffalo at least 100 pre 60 including 2 that are so perfect and well defined that they may be proofs DOLLARS 5 Presidential Proofs 3 Sacagawea Proofs 1981 Susan B Anthony Proof 5 1979 Near Date SBAs CENTS 15 Wheats and the best thing of all a 2000-P Wounded Eagle Sacagawea dollar. I think someone else mentioned this, but it's like buying a roll of lottery tickets, scratching them off, and then returning the losers to get your money back. I'm hooked.

I've got over 9 months and over 50 boxes of halves behind me and I haven't found silver #1 yet. You grabbed 27 silvers in 3 weeks! I don't know where you are, what your sources are, how you're doing it or what church you warm a pew at, but you've got something going on that's just plain RIGHT!
With results like you've outlined, I can only say --- don't stop, don't slow down and don't even turn your head to look back over your shoulder. Keep on pounding it until your results level starts to peter out. Stop for a breather and a cup of coffee only then (MAYBE).

Fat Freddy: You know there's one in the next roll or the one after that. That's how it starts, then you finally find one and you gotta find another. Then the second one appears and you've got it. THE FEVER
FadeToBlack:Twenty years, then ten years off following "burn out". Then we moved and I started moving my old coin stuff to the new home and the fever was back.
WVBlueandGold:I started with CRH but hit the others(sport cards, comics, casinos) but only the coins remain. Heck I even quit smoking but still hunting cent rolls.

@Santafeboy---I think there are too many retired CRHers in my area and they've drained the silvers out of the area pool of halves before I started CRHing. I haven't officially given up on anything yet, but I'm not wasting time on halves these days. When I do pennies, I probably average about 40% coppers and around a dozen wheats per box. So (as I said in another post) the payouts aren't big but at least I'm always a winner with pennies. I'm sticking with them for a while until I rebuild my aggression level and then I'm going to give dimes and quarters a rip. I will admit though that I really am sick and tired of the old with the halves. Finding just ONE silver half would have been nice, but that wasn't in the cards for me.

@FatFreddy - I hope I can keep this pace up, but I'm not going to hold my breath. My numbers are a little skewed from pure luck anyway. I got the Franklin and 6 Kennedys from a teller tray 2 weeks ago. I went back to the same bank yesterday and bought $100 in rolls that they didn't have before. I found 12 more 40% in one roll. I'll definitely be checking that bank on a regular basis. But, if I hadn't hit those two nice scores, my numbers would be a little bit more realistic. I've also found a few of the No FG errors too. I forgot to mention those earlier.

Fat Freddy I have given up on halves several times before then I get drawn back in by a good score My worst period was 19 or 21 boxes in a row of garbage some time ago. I just keep looking for that magical box. Kind of like a hopeless gambler except we only lose gas money and our time

Hey FatFreddy, I hate to hear you've gone on such a streak of bad luck with the halves. Glad you have a good penny/cent market. I'm sure you've posted about your bad luck but if you don't mind, can you put it the details all in one post? Things like your region/town, how many banks, local, regional or national banks, type of boxes/bags? Maybe some of the good people here can give some advice that would be helpful or inspirational. I, for one, hate to hear someone so committed to the hobby hasn't found a single silver half dollar. OO
